“After I won, many players in those circuits were elevated into the WPT events. I played heavily in the mid-circuits exclusively for several years, long enough that most everyone knew me. In all honesty, it was very similar in my eyes to the ‘Moneymaker effect’ for the WPT. “It was my first-ever entry into a WPT event. “Winning the first WPT Choctaw was truly a dream come true,” he says. He saw his ascendence as a graduation of sorts. Jason Brin, of Desoto, Kansas, came out on top for $682,975. The inaugural event kicked off in 2015 and attracted a field of 1,175 for a nice $4 million prize pool.
The Choctaw offers a great poker scene and has featured some major final tables and great stories in recent years. This marks the fifth edition of the event, which has become one of the most popular stops on the tour.
